Asparagus

Asparagus is a perennial that grows well in most parts of Canada and the U.S. except in the deep south and far north.  Seed should be soaked for 48 hours before planting (change water frequently).  Start in the ground when warm or start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost.  Plant 12” apart with crowns 3-5” below ground level in a trench and add soil 3-4 time over the first 10 days as they grow.  Don’t expect to cut  spears until the third year.  The ferns look nice too.   Pkt=50
